Derian House Children’s Hospice complies fully with the DBS Code of Practice and treats all applicants fairly. We will not discriminate unfairly against anyone based on a conviction or other information revealed in a criminal record check.

This role requires a DBS check at the level relevant to the position (Basic for Retail, Standard or Enhanced for Hospice volunteering). Checks are only carried out once suitability has been confirmed through the recruitment process.

At interview, or in a separate discussion, we will have an open conversation about any offences or other matters relevant to the role. Failure to disclose directly relevant information may result in withdrawal of a volunteer offer.

Fleet Maintenance Volunteer

Our vehicles play a vital role in supporting the work of Derian House, helping our teams care for babies, children, young people, and their families. We’re looking for a Fleet Maintenance Volunteer to help keep our cars, minibus and van safe, clean, and well-maintained.

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in looking after vehicles and enjoys practical, hands-on tasks. Working independently, your support will help ensure our fleet is always ready for use.

 What you’ll be doing:

Carry out regular visual safety checks on cars, minibus & van

Record and complete basic vehicle check logs

Valet and clean vehicles, keeping them presentable and well cared for

Report any issues or concerns to the Facilities Team

Maintain a safe working environment in line with Health & Safety requirements

You’ll love this role if you:

Enjoy looking after vehicles and keeping them clean and organised

Have a good eye for detail and like things done properly

Happy to work outside in different weathers

We provide respite and end-of-life care to more than 400 children and young people across the North West. We do this 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We never close to those who need us.
