Do you love organising, tidying or giving pre-loved items a new lease of life?
Come and join our friendly retail team at our Bamber Bridge charity shop and help turn generous donations into vital funds for local children and young people at Derian House.
As a sorting volunteer, you’ll be behind the scenes helping us get donations ready for the shop. You’ll sort through clothes, books, toys and homeware, check items are good enough to sell and prepare them for the shop by steaming, cleaning, labelling and pricing. You’ll also help keep our sorting area tidy, organised and safe.
It’s a hands-on role where you’ll work alongside our lovely team of staff and volunteers. You don’t need previous retail experience as we’ll give you all the training and support you need.
You’ll love this role if you:
Enjoy being organised and have an eye for detail. You’re happy getting stuck in, working on your feet and occasionally lifting a bag or box within your own limits.
What’s in it for you?
You’ll meet lovely people, learn new skills and have fun while doing something that makes a real difference in your community. You’ll also receive a volunteer discount in store, a Derian House uniform to wear with pride, and reasonable lunch and travel expenses where minimum hours apply.
There are also opportunities to get involved in Derian House events and other volunteer activities throughout the year.
When can I volunteer?
We have morning and afternoon sessions available from Monday to Saturday, so there should be an opportunity to find something that works for you.
A few things to know
Our shop volunteers must be 16 or over and living in the UK. All volunteers wear a Derian House uniform, which we provide free of charge.
As part of our recruitment process, we ask applicants to confidentially disclose any unspent criminal convictions before a DBS check is completed.
And just so we're clear, this is an unpaid volunteer role in one of our charity shops.
