This role requires a DBS check at the level relevant to the position (Basic for Retail, Standard or Enhanced for Hospice volunteering). Checks are only carried out once suitability has been confirmed through the recruitment process.

All volunteer appointments are subject to satisfactory reference checks.

Our hospice gardens are a place of joy and escape - where children can play pirates aboard our Seaside Garden boat, whirl around in the play park, or explore the sights and scents of our colourful sensory garden.
As a Volunteer Gardening Assistant, you’ll help keep these special spaces looking their best. You’ll be supporting our Gardener to make sure every path, flowerbed and lawn is a welcoming space for our babies, children, young people and families to enjoy.
You don’t need to be a gardening expert - just a love of the outdoors, a willingness to learn, and a desire to make a difference.
You’re friendly, hands-on, and don’t mind getting a bit muddy! You enjoy being outdoors in all weathers, working as part of a team, and taking pride in keeping our gardens looking beautiful.
We ask for a regular commitment, in return, you’ll be part of something truly rewarding - helping to bring colour and happiness to our hospice grounds.
Minimum age: 16+
Commitment: One morning or afternoon per week (Monday to Friday)
Training: Full training and ongoing support provided
