We Are Derian

Our Derian values have been co-created by staff, volunteers and management at Derian House, and are supported by the Board of Trustees.

We have six values, each based on a letter from the word Derian, to reflect the passion people have for our name.

Each letter has been given a value that really matters to staff. It is something that has a positive impact on our organisation, and is what makes us the Derian we know and love.

Katie King
Perinatal Services Lead

"I enjoy working collaboratively with the multi-professional teams both within the community and hospice settings. I love putting babies and their families at the heart of everything we do and making a real difference."

Callum Gregson
Clinical Support Worker

"I like working at Derian because it’s great when you get a smile or a laugh when working with the young people, and it’s a great place to learn new skills."

Arron Taylor
Play & Wellbeing Worker

"I love supporting the children to engage in a range of activities and new experiences, giving them the opportunity to have fun, be themselves and create special memories. Seeing them enjoy themselves is highly rewarding."

Sarah Proctor
Community Fundraiser

"Derian is such a special place to work and I feel very privileged to work here. In my role, I get great satisfaction and enjoyment from engaging with our friends and families in the community and raising awareness of our cause."

Fazila Patel
Family Counsellor

"Derian is a great place to work as I am able to help families or young people going through their journey by providing therapeutic support. It can be challenging, however at the same time fulfilling and uplifting."

Mags Kerrigan
Housekeeper

"I enjoy working at Derian because I work with great people in my team and other teams within the hospice. Every day is different and it’s a very rewarding place to be."

Why Volunteer

From manning reception and helping out with activities and groups to gardening and kitchen duties, volunteers make Derian House such a special place. Our volunteers also represent the hospice in the community helping out in our charity shops across Lancashire and at our fundraising events. We simply couldn’t do what we do without them!

Our volunteers give their time and expertise to make a difference to the lives of our children, young people and families.

If you would like to support Derian House as a volunteer take a look at the opportunities we have available.
